This is a modern horseshoe nail on the left and a celtic/saxon replica on the right ,the modern nail sits almost flush in the fullering, where as the celtic nail sits proud to provide traction along with the calkins at the heels of the shoe, the smith now buys their nails readymade , the celtic smith would of forged their own.
